Ingredients :
- 3 cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Peppermint Flavoring
- ½ cup Water
- ¾ cup Light Corn Syrup
- ¾ tsp Red Vegetable Coloring
- ¼ tsp Cream of Tartar
Method :
- Mix sugar, water, syrup and cream of tartar and heat till the
sugar gets dissolved.
- Boil the mixture without stirring in two halves,
simultaneously to 280oF.
- Add ½ tsp peppermint to each.
- Add the red food color to one half.
- Place both the halves on marble table to cool separately,
after oiling the table.
- Stretch and pull like taffy into ropes of red and white.
- Twist both the ropes together to form the candy cane.
- Let it harden on an oiled surface.
- When it hardens a little, cut it into desired size and turn
it into the shape of a hook at one corner.
