Christmas Candy Cane

 

Candy Canes

Ingredients :
  • 3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Peppermint Flavoring
  • ½ cup Water
  • ¾ cup Light Corn Syrup
  • ¾ tsp Red Vegetable Coloring
  • ¼ tsp Cream of Tartar

Method :
  • Mix sugar, water, syrup and cream of tartar and heat till the sugar gets dissolved.
  • Boil the mixture without stirring in two halves, simultaneously to 280oF.
  • Add ½ tsp peppermint to each.
  • Add the red food color to one half.
  • Place both the halves on marble table to cool separately, after oiling the table.
  • Stretch and pull like taffy into ropes of red and white.
  • Twist both the ropes together to form the candy cane.
  • Let it harden on an oiled surface.
  • When it hardens a little, cut it into desired size and turn it into the shape of a hook at one corner.
